Groovy Bar
Key Designs & Developments was recently commissioned to design a groovy bar area for a popular restaurant. Restaurateurs, Andy and Ben, wanted to access as much extra space as possible to accommodate their expanding needs. "You can never have enough space!" The new bar provides more than double the work area and updates the look and feel of The Sauce. And there is an extra bonus - hidden treasure, in the form of an old forgotten cellar, under the floor.
The door to the cellar was almost boarded over, too narrow for the smallest box of supplies and obstructed by water pipes. "Now we will be able to access the cellar from a more central position, with a new trap door. Yes, it is a real bonus!"
And the new bar area – "Yes, very stylish and a bit groovy. Just what we wanted. You can see the improvement in the 'before' and 'after' shots."
The shape of the bar is gently curved. For durable work surfaces and easy cleaning (musts for any restaurant) we selected stainless steel. For warm highlights, we used a 'hot orange' enamel finish for the curve and thoughtfully positioned lighting to ‘wash’ the outer side of the bar. Shelves are mounted to ‘float’ along the wall behind the bar and are illuminated from within to ‘wash’ the wall with more light. It makes for a simple but stunning back drop for the bar area.
"The best part was that most work could be done around our trading times. Key Designs & Developments arranged the installation while we got on with our business. We are happy. Our customers are happy."
