part 2 of 3 Selections & Specifications
Detailed Selections & Specifications.
So you have found the floor plan that will maximise the use of your new space. And you have decided on your general style and colour scheme – the look and feel of your space. Now it’s time to get into the ‘nitty gritty’ details.
So, exactly what fixtures and fittings will form part of your new space? What are their dimensions? Where will they be placed? How durable do they need to be? How easy to clean and maintain? What colour, texture, finish? How will they fit in with everything else?
What about the essential items that are not seen? Is there enough storage space? Where will the clothes dry? And where will you put the hot water service?
How will the space be lit? Does it need ambient lighting, or task, feature, information or security lighting? And where will the light switches and power points go?
Every detail needs to be carefully considered, selected and documented. Then you can get some reliable quotes and compare ‘apples with apples’. Your team of contractors and suppliers need to work from a detailed and thoughtfully prepared set of plans and specifications.
“We needed to achieve our project on a budget. It was useful to find out where we could save money without compromising our project and where we needed to spend money, wisely, to add value to our property.”
“Key Designs gave me a tabulated ‘selections prompt’ for my bathroom. I didn’t realise how many things needed to be considered! It helped me to focus my thoughts and make some decisions. I selected all of the items that were important to me. I left the rest to the designer to finalise. And I am very happy with the result.”
“They documented the final specifications and used them to obtain cost approximations and arrange technical engineering and working drawings. It saved us a lot of time, money and hassles to get that work done thoroughly from the outset.”
